Amandla! Fragments Of Struggle
At the Grahamstown National Arts Festival 2009, a South African and Dutch cast and musicians supported by Stichting Julius Leeft will perform Amandla! Fragments of Struggle.
The struggle against apartheid has seen many faces. Amandla! Fragments of Struggle is a theatrical show that combines singing, the spoken word, dancing and projected historical images from the past, present and into the future. From a Dutch perspective we see, amongst others, the lives of Nelson and Winnie Mandela, the Amsterdam anti-Apartheid movement, but also seven women trying to decide which is the best approach to combat apartheid...
Stichting Julius Leeft aims to address socially difficult issues through theatre. BKB Africa’s Alex Klusman and Erik van Bruggen are part of the executive board of the foundation.
Amandla! Fragments of Struggle can be experienced on 9, 10 and 11 July. For more information check nationalartsfestival.co.za and stichtingjuliusleeft.nl.
