BKB Academy

BKB Africa will soon set up a BKB Africa Academy. The Academy is a breeding ground for the young and ambitious. We let them share in our network and expertise, in turn gaining new insights from the experience of these up-and-coming talents. Through the Academy, selected youth will obtain skills to better communicate and voice their opinions and dreams for an even better South Africa.

Every year, BKB Africa will select a group of around 25 participants. Those selected are open-minded and socially aware, critical and creative. The group will be a good mix of people with different backgrounds to stimulate debate and deepen insight. BKB Africa will specifically focus on getting representation from the previously underprivileged areas.

BKB organises an academy session every month. This can take the form of an intensive training in journalistic writing, for example, or an inspiring debate about the current state of affairs in the country. Experts from different industries who have made a name for themselves in and outside of South Africa are invited to speak at these sessions.

The theme that links all the sessions is running a campaign and everything what that entails. Which campaign resources do you have at your disposal? How do you successfully convey a message? How do you make a good strategic concept work in practice?

BKB Africa Academy participants also have the opportunity to develop practical skills. BKB Africa will invite participants to help carry out campaigns and research.

The BKB Africa Academy will be modeled to its Dutch predecessor the BKB Academy which started in 2000. Since 2008, the Academy has a Bosnian sister which is set up by the Young Urban Achievers Foundation and BKB (The Netherlands). The BKB Africa Academy will be the third branch on the BKB Academy tree.
